Contracting

The two primary activities of HEC are in the production of silages, whether it is grass, maize or whole crop for today's forward thinking dairy farmer and the establishment and harvesting of cereals. The prime machinery used in the silage making process is of the well known "Claas"(a privately owned German company) self propelled Forage Harvester of the Jaguar range, and associated mowers, rakes and trailers. One important piece of equipment we have which is attached to the Jaguar for harvesting and whole crop cereals is their Direct Cut Disc Header - "it will cut virtually anything"! We can perform the operation of 'direct' cutting grass, thus eliminating the need of mowers and rakes. On the cutting of whole crop cereals, we employ an attachment to the Forager Claas' own design Whole Crop Mill which crushes the grain sufficient for the animal to digest. With these pieces of equipment HEC is able to carry out what would normally be up to three separate 'jobs' in one visit, thus being more cost and time effective to the customer.

Forage Harvester

When harvesting cereal we use two machines, one being of a basic Combine Harvester whilst the second has a 'hillside option' which is invaluable for use in the sloping Cornish countryside. This piece of equipment has a tilt action of up to 17degrees which successfully results in minimum grain loss whilst output is maintained.

To compliment both of these services we can offer to round or square bale (as the picture shows) and we have the facility of wrapping both round and square. We also have all necessary machinery within our contracting side of the business to deal with the beginning of ploughing the soil, to planting, leading to the eventual harvesting.

We have a small amount of plant including a Water Bowser (for road cleaning or transportation of water), to a Flail Topper which will pulverise gorse and small trees to the height of 3 metres and 200 mm. in diameter.

All the equipment in the HEC business is operated by competent and well trained personnel, and we should be pleased to answer any queries concerning our present services, or any others using our machinery that may not be included here today.

Our ethos is to conduct the business in a professional and proficient manner where our customers will be happy and willing to use us in the future and where we strive to give good value for money at all times.
