Environment
By using our 'home-grown' organic fertilizer we already have 'green-fingers' in helping to grow our own crops. We established a Countryside Stewardship Scheme some four years ago where we laid down various widths of grass margins on the sides of the fields to attract wildlife for nesting. As a farming family we are also delighted to witness, first hand, that these margins also provide feeding ground for our resident barn owls, which have provided many hours of happy entertainment for us in their flights around the farm at dusk in search of prey.

We are conscious of today's pesticide use in the growing of cereals being of harm to the bird population and small mammals in particular, and to this end, we are delighted to have areas of permanent "set-a-side" which are mown annually but otherwise are a perfect nature reserve for many of our well loved wildlife.
In the use of agricultural pesticides we are very aware of the environmental affects around us, and to this end we have trained personnel to PA1/PA2 level, and have ongoing training within the National Register of Spray Operators to maintain our level of efficiency within this operation and naturally have the correct equipment to apply the necessary pesticides when required.
Our next step down the environment path is to acquire a shredder sufficient to handle larger quantities of green waste thus being able to produce larger amounts of organic fertilizer for farming use.
