About Us
The Emmett family began farming at Tregairewoon in the early 1930s and at Tregaire in the early 1940s and is a very well established farming family throughout Cornwall and in particular on the Roseland Peninsula. HEC, whilst still retaining some 500 acres. being tenanted and shared farming, where I have a cereal enterprise producing oilseed rape and feed wheat for which I have won awards for quality by Kernow Grain, a well established and respected grain storage co-operative in Cornwall.

In 1978 I diversified into agricultural contracting, primarily in the planting and harvesting of forage maize throughout Cornwall with the inclusion of grass silage and cereal harvesting. Throughout this 30 year enterprise I have prided myself in employing extremely well trained and motivated staff with both college trained and NPTC qualifications to enable HC Emmett to provide the best service and customer care possible. During the past three years HC Emmett has also established a green waste recycling operation to coincide with the farming and contracting businesses and this is proving to be extremely popular and welcome with the community in the ever growing need to recycle and "be green". When the waste is fully composted, I personally use it as an organic fertilizer for plant nutrition at Tregaire Farms in cereal production, which obviously eliminates the use of ever anti-social chemical fertilizers which are proven to produce greenhouse gases which we are all trying to diminish.

I am very aware of the constant changes in technology and demands within the farming world and make every effort to keep abreast of legislative issues and new marketing developments to ensure I can give my customers every help and assistance for their needs not only today but also for the future of farming for next generations - "standing still is never an option" and in today's ever technical environment - not a familiar or comfortable place for farmers in the past - we have to be fully aware of cost efficiency and value for money.
